Stephen Talasnik Essay

Dave Anderson
I am really amazed at this sculpture that has been erected over the past eight years. It really enthralls me to see a grand masterpiece displayed in such a way, which captivates the eye. I really like the color choices that Stephen Talasnik chose in his piece. The color choice that he has chosen really attracts your eye towards it.  The fact that he uses a bright orange/red and leaves the natural color of the wood pieces constructing the artwork.  The way that the “Nimbus” is place adds a nice flow to it. This really brings your eye from one end of it to the other easily.  The more you stare at it, the more objects your eye can recognize and engage.
I do agree with the person that blogged this article. I agree with him that this artwork is incredible and so eye catching. Also the uniqueness and creativity that was put into this project must have taken a while to consider. Each piece was carefully constructed and placed so that it turns out perfectly in the end. Not a single inch of this is overlooked; every crevice is filled and placed perfectly.  You can tell that Stephen spent a ton of effort working on his masterpiece. I hope that he is greatly rewarded for all his hard work and dedication. He really deserves it after the amount of time he spent creating it.
The writer is describing an artists latest exhibition and the background behind the piece that was chosen for it. The blog post also describes in detail a lot of information and history about the artist that created this piece called “Nimbus”. Also he talks about the multiple steps that he went through during the all eight years.  He also has noted Stephen Talasnik’s success in the art field over the last three generations and how he still continues to amaze artists and viewers alike till this day.  Also the writer who posted this blog article talks about what he sees and feels when he’s engaged in the piece.  Finally the types of shapes and emotions that are conveyed in the mind when the person looks at piece “Nimbus”.
I think the essence of this article is help the reader understand the amount of work that a certain artist can go through just to create something amazing. To help prove that the art scene is not something to be played with and should be respected just as well as an author is after spending years writing a book. It’s the same deal just looked at in a different perspective, which is why society has an skewed outlook on art. For example this piece took eight whole years to construct, and to most they will not notice the amount of time that he had put into his art. I really hope that in the next couple of years, art will be put on the same level as literature and language.
Before I read this article, I had never even heard of the mentioned artist,  Stephen Talasnik. He was just another name among millions. After reading this article I am now very interested and compelled to read up more about him and the work that he has created over the years. After seeing how the chosen art of the article turned out after eight years of work. I am excited to see his other works, which he probably spends just as much time constructing.  I am sure each masterpiece that he has done has turned out as incredible as his latest piece did. He now has made it to be one of my favorite artists.

Still Life

This completed still life for my drawing class was done in black and white charcoal on newsprint. The drawing contains glass bottles that I found in the woods in my backyard when I was about 10 years old. They are from the 18th century and are old, rare medicine bottles.
